A healthy drink to quench your thirst is Shikanjabeen. It is a cold drink made from lemon juice, mint leaves, sugar and water. These ingredients are blended together. To enhance the taste of shikanjabeen, black salt is added. It is a desi Pakistani version of Lemonade and a favourite drink in Ramadan.



  • 4 medium-sized lemons
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 4 cups water
  • Ice cubes


  1. Cut the lemons into halves and extract the juice into a bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the sugar and water until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Add the lemon juice, salt, black salt, and roasted cumin powder to the sugar syrup. Stir well.
  4. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  5. Add ice cubes to the mixture.
  6. Serve chilled.
