Qehwa
The best known Qehwa of Pakistan can be found in Kashmir and Peshawar. Qehwa is a kind of tea and it has a lot of health benefits. It is a light beverage and aids digestion and cleansing of body. This is an aromatic drink which has cardamom, saffron, cloves etc. People like to add lemon juice or jaggery in Qehwa according to their choice. This drink helps in warming the body in winters.
Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon black tea leaves (or 1 tea bag)
- 1 cup water
- Spices such as cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, cloves etc
- Sugar/ jaggery/ honey (optional)
Directions
- Boil water in a kettle.
- Put the black tea leaves or tea bag into a cup.
- Pour the hot water over the tea leaves or tea bag.
- Add optional spices according to your preferred flavour.
- Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes, or until it reaches the desired strength.
- Remove the tea leaves or tea bag from the cup.
- Add optional sweetener to taste, if desired.
- Stir the tea.
- Enjoy your perfectly brewed black tea!
Note: The steeping time can be adjusted according to personal preference. For a stronger tea, steep for longer, and for a milder tea, steep for less time. You can also experiment with different types of milk or sweeteners to suit your taste.
