Pathoray are the snacks for meat lovers. Lahoris have the command of exact pathoray recipe. This dish is enjoyed in rainy and winter seasons. A flour based flat bread is stuffed with minced meat, onion and spices. This flat bread is then deep fried. Pathoray is served hot and crispy with raita. It is easily available in the bakeries of Lahore



  • 1 pound ground beef or lentils (masoor dal)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Oil for frying


  1. In a pan, heat the oil and add the onions. Fry until they turn translucent.
  2. Add the ground beef or lentils to the pan and fry until it turns brown.
  3. Add the tomatoes, green chilies, ginger paste, garlic paste, salt, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well and cook until the mixture is dry. Set aside.
  4. In a mixing bowl, add the flour and salt. Gradually add warm water and make a dough.
  5. Make equak balls of the dough and fill with a spoonful of the batter in the center of each piece.
  6. Cover it properly nad roll it with a rolling pin to make flat roti.
  7. Fry the pathora in hot oil.
  8. Serve the pathoray hot with mint chutney and tamarind chutney. Enjoy!
