Bun Sheermaal
Bun sheermal is also known as morabba roti or fruit bun. It is a sweetened bun and can be eaten with butter, jam or tea. It is easily available in all the bakeries of Pakistan. It is a light nashta to grab in the morning.
Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup ghee, melted
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- Saffron strands, for garnish
Directions
- In a small bowl, mix the yeast, warm milk, and a tablespoon of sugar. Stir well and let it sit for 10 minutes until the mixture is frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the ghee, yogurt, and beaten egg to the flour mixture. Mix well until it forms a smooth dough.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes soft and pliable.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease a baking sheet and set it aside.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into small balls of equal size. Roll each ball into a flat, round shape.
- Use a sharp knife to make diagonal cuts on the dough, making sure not to cut all the way through.
- Brush the dough with melted ghee and sprinkle with saffron strands.
- Place the bread on the greased baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until it is golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and brush with more melted ghee.
Your delicious Bun Sheermaal is now ready to serve. Enjoy it warm with your favorite cup of tea or coffee.
